Appropriateness Test

The "Appropriateness Test" is a regulatory requirement which aims to increase investor protection in the non-advised market. Where applicable, investment firms must ask the client to provide information regarding their knowledge and experience in the investment field, relevant to the specific type of product or service offered, to enable the firm to assess whether the service or product is appropriate for the client.

Alpari UK’s assessment of appropriateness

Before agreeing to accept an application to open a Live account, Alpari UK will ask you to provide certain information regarding your knowledge and experience of forex, spread betting and contracts for difference (CFDs), so we can assess whether our products are appropriate investment instruments for you.

Information required during the application process includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Do you have a good understanding of trading in leveraged derivatives?
  • Do you have the relevant knowledge and experience in the investment instruments offered by Alpari UK?
  • What is the nature, volume, frequency of your transactions in those investment instruments and the period over which they have been carried out?

Should Alpari UK consider, on the basis of the information received, that our investment instruments may not be appropriate for you, Alpari UK will provide you with an additional risk warning. At this point, you can either decide to take heed of our warning and cease your application or continue at your own discretion.
